Box Score ASHLAND, VA-- R-MC Baseball took a 6-5 lead into the fifth
before Mary Washington rallied for a five run inning on the way to
an 18-8 win.
Current ODAC Baseball Player of the Week Brian Jordan (Columbia,
VA/ Goochland) led off the bottom of the first with a single to
right center and would score later in the inning on a Jeb Weymouth
(Rockville, VA/ Hanover) RBI single. Cory Jackson's
(Beaverdam, VA/ PH-Ashland) sacrifice fly to left scored Kevin
Davis (Hanover, VA/ Hanover) and Weymouth scored on an
Eagles' error to put the Jackets up 3-0.
Mary Washington responded with five runs on five hits in the top
of the second, highlighted by a two run single off the bat of Will
Wright.
Randolph-Macon quickly tied the game in the bottom half, scoring
a run on an error and a Weymouth fielder's choice.
Jordan Walton (Mechanicsville, VA/ Lee Davis) put the Yellow
Jackets on top in the bottom of the fourth with a single, scoring
Jordan from third.
The Eagles' Eric Rehbein capped a five run fifth inning
with a two run homerun to center, putting UMW up 10-6. From there
Mary Washington would score five in the sixth and three in the
seventh on the way to an 18-8 win.
Weymouth paced the Yellow Jackets at the plate going 3-for-5
with a double and two RBI. Walton had two hits with a double and an
RBI while Jay Lichter (Richmond, VA/ Varina) had a double and two
RBI.
R-MC starting pitcher Matt Tiller (Midlothian, VA/ Clover Hill)
is stuck with the loss in five innings of work. Jordan pitched two
scoreless innings with four strikeouts in relief.
Wright finished 3-for-7 with a double, a homerun and six runs
batted in for Mary Washington.
Nick Corbin earns the win after allowing two earned runs on
seven hits in eight innings on the mound.
The Yellow Jackets (10-10 / 7-3 ODAC) will host Shenandoah
University Thursday, April 1st, for a 3:30 p.m. game.
