ASHLAND, VA – Williams College wrapped a 7-0 run around
the second and third quarter to pull away from Randolph-Macon and
win 11-6 Tuesday afternoon in men's lacrosse action.
Jake Leddy led R-MC (3-3) with four goals, while Patrick Egan
had a pair of tallies in the loss. Adam Liberto and Jason Crawford
combined to make 11 stops in the cage for R-MC.
Williams (3-0) got three goals from Mike Ryan and a pair of
goals from Tim Goggins and Richard Reuter. Stephen Vrla turned away
11 shots in goal for the Ephs.
The Ephs led 3-0 after one quarter, getting goals from Ryan,
Goggins and Will Stewart.
An EMO goal by Leddy cut the Williams lead to 3-1 with 14:46 to
go in the first half of play.
Ryan scored with 6:50 remaining in the second stanza and sparked
what proved to be the decisive 7-0 run by the Ephs. The
run was capped off by a score off the stick of Reuter with
3:09 to play in the third quarter.
Trailing 10-1, the Yellow Jackets rallied and scored five of the
final six goals of the game that featured three scores by Leddy and
a pair by Egan.
Williams outshot R-MC 34-28 and grabbed 35 groundballs to the
Jackets' 28 GBs.
Randolph-Macon will take on ODAC rival Washington and Lee at
12:00 p.m. Saturday in Ashland.
