Box Score BALTIMORE, MD – Tyler Midwinter registered at hat trick
but Goucher scored nine first-half goals en-route to a 12-4
men's lacrosse win over Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon.
Goucher opened the scoring when Rory Averett struck at the 10:37
mark. R-MC's Taylor Wicke knotted the game at 1-1 just
over two minutes later with an unassisted strike.
The Gophers then reeled off the next four goals, taking a 6-1
advantage when Matt Lynch set up Averett with just over 13 minutes
to play in the half.
Tyler Midwinter brought the Jackets back to a 6-2 deficit when
he took a pass from Kevin Patton and beat Goucher keeper Chris
Stricklin with 11 minutes to play in the first stanza.
GC scored the final three goals of the half to take a 9-2 lead
into the locker room at intermission.
Averett opened the second half scoring with a goal at 13:08 mark
of the third quarter before Midwinter made the score 10-3
with just over two minutes to play in the third.
Adam Liberto made nine stops in net for R-MC, while Stricklin
turned away nine shots as well.
GC out shot R-MC 30-23 and held a 45-35 edge in ground balls.
R-MC will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Mary
Washington at 3:30 p.m.
