Box Score ASHLAND, VA-Senior Molly Ariail dropped in a team high 22 points
to lead five Yellow Jackets in double figures on the way to a 96-62
win over Emory and Henry in Ashland Saturday. The Yellow Jackets
finish the regular season 18-6 overall and 16-4 in the ODAC.
Senior's Ariail (York, PA/York Suburban) and Renee Stein
(Harrisonburg, VA/Spotswood) converted back to back layups to start
the game and propel the Yellow Jackets to a 17-5 opening run.
Randolph-Macon built as large as a 19 point advantage in the
first half before taking a 45-29 lead into the locker room for
halftime.
Jillian Asay (Chesterfield, NJ/ No. Burlington Co.) knocked down
a three to open up the Yellow Jacket offense in the second half,
sparking a 25-4 run that put R-MC up 70-35 and was capped with just
under 14 minutes to play by a Molly Brown jumper.
The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the contest
and Randolph-Macon finished strong on senior day for the 96-62
victory.
Ariail finished with 22 points and seven rebounds to lead by
Yellow Jackets in double figure scoring and every R-MC player
notched the scoring column. With her seven rebounds, Ariail becomes
the first player in Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball history to
record over 1,000 career rebounds.
Maggie Roy (Richmond, VA/ Mills Godwin) and Asay finished with
13 points and four rebounds each. Jordan Cantrell (Washington, NC/
Washington) and Katie Williams (Warrenton, VA/ Fauquier) scored ten
points apiece with Williams also contributing with eight assists
and three steals.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Salem, VA for the
Quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament Thursday, February
25th, time and opponent is still to be announced.
