Box Score R-MC's Taylor Wieczorek finished with a season high 15 points and 10 rebounds but St. Vincent used a 23-4 opening run to down Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball (5-4 / 3-1 ODAC) 74-52 on day two of the Daytona Shootout Monday night.
The Bearcats' Devin McGrath sunk a pair of free throws for the games' first points which sparked a 23-4 game opening run that was capped by an Ariel Rocco layup with 9:41 to go in the half.
Maggie Roy took a pass from Madison Dulaney and knocked down a three as time expired in the first half to cut the St. Vincent lead to 45-29.
Roy dropped in a layup to start the second stanza, pulling R-MC within 14 but that would be as close as the Yellow Jackets would come as the Bearcats pulled away for the 74-52 final.
The junior guard Roy paced the Yellow Jackets' scoring with 21 points to go with her seven rebounds and three steals. Her classmate Wieczorek recorded her first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 boards.
Four Bearcats notched double figure scoring including McGrath who finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. St. Vincent held a 46-42 rebounding edge and shot 36.9% from the field.
Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball will be off for the Christmas Holiday before returning to Ashland Friday, January 7th when they host Guilford at 7:00 p.m.
