Box Score LYNCHBURG, VA - Molly Ariail and Katie Williams scored 16 points
each as Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball took out Randolph College
90-47 in Lynchburg Tuesday. Ariail's 16 points pushed her past the
1,500 career point mark.
Renee Stein (Harrisonburg, VA/Spotswood) netted a jumper only
seconds into the game, sparking a 22-6 opening run for the Yellow
Jackets. The run was capped by a two point jumper from Taylor
Wieczorek (Grasonville, MD/ Severn) who finished with 14 points and
four rebounds
With 11:15 to go in the first half, Wieczorek started a 13-2 run
with a jumper. During R-MC's run, Molly Ariail (York, PA/ York
Suburban) sunk a free throw with 9:42 to go, notching her
1,500th career point. Stein knocked down a two pointer
with 6:39 left in the first to cap the run. Stein finished with
eight points, five rebounds and five assists.
Randolph-Macon extended their lead to 29 points at 48-19 heading
into halftime.
The Yellow Jackets steadily built their lead to as many as 46 in
the second half behind 60.7% shooting before the game ended at
90-47. R-MC shot 56.9% for the game and held a 47-25 rebounding
advantage.
Four Yellow Jackets scored in double figures, led by 16 points
each from Ariail and Williams (Warrenton, VA/ Faquier). Maggie Roy
(Richmond, VA/ Mills Godwin) chipped in with 11 points and five
assists.
Katie Rechnitzer led the Wildcats with 14 points and two
assists. Lauren French added 12 points and three rebounds.
With the win, Randolph-Macon improves to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in
the ODAC while Randolph College falls to 2-9 and a 1-6 ODAC mark.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Friday, January
8th, when they host ODAC rival Roanoke College, tip-off
is set for 7:00 p.m.
