Box Score EMORY, VA-Molly Ariail tied career highs with 30 points and 18
rebounds as Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball (10-3, 8-1 ODAC) led
wire to wire for a 83-76 win over Emory and Henry (5-7, 4-4 ODAC).
The Yellow Jackets came out firing with a 14-5 opening run
capped by a two pointer from senior Renee Stein (Harrisonburg, VA/
Spotswood) with 17:08 left in the first half.
R-MC extended their lead to 26-14 with 9:49 remaining in the
first when Ariail (York, PA/ York Suburban) bookended a 6-0 run
with layups.
Freshman guard Madison Dulaney (Kernersville, NC/ Glenn)
stretched the Yellow Jackets' lead to 16 when she sunk a two
pointer with 3:08 to go in the half.
The Wasps finished the first half on a 7-0 run to cut the
deficit to 39-30. Sarah Petty capped the streak with a layup 19
seconds before intermission.
Baylie Snyder rallied Emory and Henry with a three pointer,
sparking a 9-0 Wasps' run, leaving the Yellow Jackets with just a
45-44 advantage.
Maggie Roy (Richmond, VA/ Mills Godwin) stretched the R-MC lead
back to six with 10:16 when she knocked down five consecutive
points.
E&H made it a one possession game on two made free throws
from Blakeley Brewton to make the score 63-60 R-MC but, that would
be as close as the Wasps would come as Roy answered with a three on
the next possession for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon would lead by as many as 11 from that point
before finishing off Emory and Henry 83-76 for their eighth ODAC
victory.
R-MC senior Ariail led all players with 30 points, 18 rebounds
and five steals. The sophomore Roy netted 18 points including three
second half three pointers. Roy finished the two game road trip
with a 9-14 mark from the three point line. Katie Williams
(Warrenton, VA/ Fauquier) chipped in with 11 points for the Yellow
Jackets while Jennifer O'Briant (Chesterfield, VA/ Manchester)
added five points and eight assists.
Three players scored in double figures for Emory and Henry, led
by Alex Lyons with 23 points and nine boards. Petty chipped in with
19 and Snyder added 14.
Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball returns to the court Tuesday,
January 19th, when they host Lynchburg College for a
7:00 p.m. game.
