R-MC Men's Lacrosse Falls to Mary Washington 12-4

Ashland, Va. - R-MC's Tyler Midwinter tallied three goals and
Patrick Egan registered two assists, but the Yellow Jackets could
not keep pace with Mary Washington on Saturday, losing 12-4 in
men's lacrosse action.
UMW (6-3) opened the scoring as Brian Deal notched his first of
three tallies in the game with 12:54 remaining in the first
quarter. R-MC (3-2) responded as Egan found Midwinter who deposited
his first goal with 1:41 remaining in the first stanza. The Eagles
took a 2-1 lead with eight seconds remaining in the first quarter
on a goal by Harry Snyder.
UMW outscored R-MC 9-1 in the second and third quarters to seal
the win. Midwinter added two goals in the fourth quarter (assisted
by Egan and Kevin Patton), but the Eagles added the final tally
with 2:03 remaining in regulation to clinch the 12-4 win.
R-MC senior Rich Wilkens registered a goal in the second
quarter. Sophomore defenseman Kris Knopp led the Yellow Jackets
with six ground balls. UMW was led by Ryan Wettlaufer (three goals,
two assists), Brian Deal (three goals), and Kohl Meyer (one goal,
two assists).
The Yellow Jackets look to rebound on Wednesday when they host
Birmingham Southern at 2:30.
