Tufts

Score)
ASHLAND, VA - Mike Wallace's three run, eighth inning blast
capped a late inning rally by Randolph-Macon and sent the Yellow
Jackets to a 9-8 victory over visiting Tufts University on Friday
afternoon in Ashland.
Trailing 8-4 after six and a half innings, the Jackets got their
comeback started in the home half of the seventh when Wallace
singled to open the inning and Jordan Walton followed with a
towering homerun of his own, cutting the Jumbo lead to 8-6.
In the decisive eighth inning, Kevin Davis and Greg Meleski
opened the frame with back-to-back singles, setting the stage for
Wallace's fourth homerun of the season that pulled R-MC in front
for good at 9-8.
Tufts did not go away easy in the ninth, getting a leadoff walk
from Ben Walkley who was able to move third after a pair of ground
ball outs. He would be stranded there, as R-MC reliever Brian
Jordan was able to get Kevin Casey to fly out to centerfield to end
the ball game.
Jordan got his first win of the year after throwing two innings
of relief where he did not allow a hit and struck out three. Jack
Dilday (0-1) was saddled with the loss after surrendering Wallace's
game-winning homerun.
Walton led the way for R-MC with four hits on the day and two
runs scored, while Greg Mitro and Wallace had three and two hits,
respectively in the win.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday when it
travels to Lynchburg College for a key ODAC doubleheader starting
at 1:00 p.m.
