Big Second Inning Sends Catholic Past R-MC 12-6

ASHLAND, VA - Catholic University used a seven-run, second inning
to help score a 12-6 victory over Randolph-Macon Wednesday
afternoon in Ashland.
After scoring a run in the top-of the first, CUA
strung together eight consecutive hits to chase R-MC starter
Charlie Hartt from the game in the decisive second inning.
With the Cardinals up 9-0, the Jackets struck for
four runs in the fifth inning. The inning was highlighted by RBI
hits from J.C. Conway, Hartt and a sacrifice fly RBI from Greg
Meleski.
CUA then tacked on a single run in the seventh and
a pair of runs in the eighth inning to extended their lead to 12-4.
Hartt took the loss for R-MC, which is now 4-5 on
the season, while Catholic is 2-2 on the year.
Randolph-Macon will return to action on Saturday
when it hosts Eastern Connecticut State at 1:00 p.m.
