Box Score ASHLAND, VA-R-MC Tip-Off Classic's Most
Outstanding Player Molly Ariail scored a game high 22 points and
pulled down 16 rebounds as R-MC Women's Hoops downed Methodist
University 74-50 in Ashland Saturday. The Yellow Jackets finish the
tournament with a 2-0 record.
Jennifer O'Briant (Chesterfield, VA/ Manchester) scored the
Yellow Jackets' first two points and sparked a 15-2 R-MC run,
capped by a two-point jumper from Ariail (York, PA/ York Suburban).
Methodist rallied to bring the score to 17-12 on a jumper by
Dawn Sanderson with 9:46 left in the first half but, R-MC finished
the half on a 9-3 run to take a 35-23 lead into halftime.
The Monarchs pulled within six points with 16:07 left in the
second half on a jumper by Jackie Lyles. Lyles finished with five
points and four rebounds.
Katie Williams' (Warrenton, VA/ Fauquier) layup with 14:31
left sparked a 17-4 Yellow Jackets' run to put the game away.
Williams finished with career high 16 points including a perfect
eight for eight from the free throw line earning All-Classic Team
honors.
Williams and Ariail were joined on the All-Classic Team by
Maggie Roy (Richmond, VA/ Mills Godwin) who scored eight points and
had three steals.
Taylor Wieczorek (Grasonville, MD/ Severn) chipped in with 11
points and eight rebounds for Randolph-Macon.
Michaela Myers scored a team high 16 points for Methodist, going
four for seven from beyond the arc.
R-MC Women's Basketball will be back in action Tuesday, November
24th when they host Virginia Wesleyan College for a 7:00
p.m. game.
