Yellow Jackets Extend Win Streak to Five Games, Fly Past
Emory & Henry 89-57 in Women's Basketball Action

Ashland, Va. - Five R-MC players scored at least 10 points
as the Yellow Jackets defeated Emory & Henry 89-57 in ODAC
women's basketball action today. Senior Lindsay Riesbeck led R-MC
with 18 points and freshman Maggie Roy set a new career-high with
13 points. Senior Amanda Hiltunen scored 15 and dished 10 assists
for her second double-double of the season. Junior Molly Ariail
tallied 14 points and freshman Jillian Asay netted 10.
Riesbeck opened the game on a tear, registering 15 points
in the first 7:43 of play. She shot 5-for-6 from the field and
5-for-5 from the charity stripe in the first half. After Riesbeck
ended her first half-scoring by hitting a layup to put the Yellow
Jackets ahead 27-17, Roy proceeded to tally five consecutive
points.
Hiltunen grabbed a steal and fed Roy, who sunk a layup
while being fouled by EHC's Faith Walker. After she hit her foul
shot, Roy snatched her own steal and deposited a layup to give her
five points in 22 seconds. Ariail added another layup as R-MC took
a 34-17 lead. The Yellow Jackets ended the first half with
back-to-back three-pointers by Jillian Asay and Amanda Hiltunen.
R-MC carried a 51-27 lead into halftime.
R-MC's Katie Williams opened the second half by draining a
three-pointer. Jillian Asay hit a three-pointer with 12:28
remaining in regulation to spark a 10-0 Yellow Jacket rally that
gave R-MC a 73-39 lead with 9:43 remaining. Asay, Taylor Wieczorek,
Molly Ariail, and Hiltunen scored on the run. The Yellow Jackets'
largest lead came with 5:17 remaining after Williams converted a
layup to give R-MC an 85-49 advantage.
Saturday's contest marked Emory & Henry's second road
game in as many days. On Friday night, the Wasps grabbed a 60-57
win at first-place Virginia Wesleyan. The Yellow Jackets, now tied
with VWC and Roanoke for the ODAC lead, never trailed against the
Wasps. Emory & Henry was led by Baylie Snyder, who tallied 13
points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Alex Lyons registered 12 points
and two rebounds, and Tuesdee Woods dropped 10 points, grabbed two
rebounds, and dished two assists for the Wasps.
Randolph-Macon improves to 9-4 (7-2 ODAC), while Emory
& Henry drops to 3-9 (2-6 ODAC). The Yellow Jackets find
themselves in a three-way for the ODAC lead as they approach the
midway point of the regular season.
R-MC returns to action on Tuesday when they take on
Lynchburg (7-8, 5-5 ODAC) at 7:00. The Wasps return home to host
Guilford (6-9, 5-5 ODAC) on Tuesday. Game time is set for 7:00.
