Lynchburg Knocks Off R-MC Softball 7-6
ASHLAND, VA - Lynchburg College ended Randolph-Macon's softball
season on Wednesday as the Hornets took a 7-6 victory in a game
that was finished in Ashland a week after it was suspended due to
darkness in the eighth inning.
Dara Sandifer opened the eighth by bunting over placed runner
Tina Campbell to third. Campbell scored the game winning run when a
groundball off the next batter's bat was misplayed in the Jackets
infield.
R-MC had a chance to score after Katie Newton bunted over placed
runner Julie Addington to third, but Addington was cut down at the
plate on a fielder's choice groundball off the bat of the next
batter Becky Clark.
The Yellow Jackets finish the season with a school record 24
wins, including a 7-11 record against ODAC foes.
