ASHLAND, VA - Randolph-Macon senior right-hander Bo Garner went
6.2 innings to pick up win as the Yellow Jackets celebrated Senior
Day with a 6-3 victory over visiting Newport News Apprentice on
Thursday.
R-MC stands at 20-14 overall, marking the second time in three
years the Yellow Jackets have reached the 20 victory mark.

Garner evened his record at 1-1 on the season after scattering five

Ellwood and Nick Simons held the lead before giving way to seniors
Devin O'Meara and Mike Gerdes who closed out the ninth inning to
save the win for the Jackets.
The Builders took a 1-0 lead in the second when Dory Fields
walked to open the frame and moved to second on a single by Kyle
Center. After a Alan Riley sacrifice bunt moved the runners to
second and third, Bryce Beale scored Fields with a sacrifice fly.
R-MC took the lead a half inning later when Daniel Rollins
delivered a two-out RBI single to centerfield that plated both Mike
Wallace and Charlie Hartt.
After Apprentice tied the score in the top of the sixth inning,
the Jackets got a pair of runs in the home-half of the sixth on an
RBI double by JC Conway and an RBI single off the bat of James
Bierlien, putting R-MC up 4-2.
Randolph-Macon tacked on two more runs in the seventh when Greg
Meleski tripled home Bruno Gora. Hartt followed with an RBI single
to score Meleski and put R-MC up 6-2.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday when they travel
to Guilford College for a pivotal ODAC doubleheader, which is
slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.
