Late Goal Lifts Shenandoah over Randolph-Macon 9-8 in
Men's Lax

ASHLAND, VA - Teddy Rogers' goal with nine seconds remaining in
the game lifted home standing Shenandoah University to a 9-8 come
from behind victory over the Randolph-Macon College men's lacrosse
team Wednesday afternoon.
Rogers' game-winning goal capped a seven point (4g, 3a) day for
the senior midfielder and one was one of five Hornet goals in the
fourth quarter.
R-MC jumped out to a 2-1 lead after one quarter, getting goals
from Billy Rowe and Zach Craft in the first 15 minutes of play.
The Yellow Jackets pushed their lead to 4-1 after Rowe and Paul
Johnson scored the first two goals of the second quarter. After
Rogers scored to cut the R-MC advantage to 4-2, Tyler Watkins
scored with 1:37 left in the half to send the Jackets to the locker
room with a 5-2 edge at the intermission
SU scored the only two goals of the third quarter to make the
score 5-4. Rowe opened up the scoring in the fourth with a goal 28
seconds into the final quarter, putting R-MC up 6-4. Shenandoah
then rattled off four of the next five goals, taking an 8-7
advantage when Rogers set up Richard Michael with 4:24 left in the
contest.
Johnson answered back for the Jackets, scoring his second goal
of the game with 2:08 left to pull R-MC even with the Hornets.
R-MC outshot SU 33-31 and won the groundball battle 38-36. Adam
Liberto and Patrick Nugent split time in net for Randolph-Macon,
with both making two saves on the afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Sunday when it will
take on Catholic University at home at 1:00 p.m.
