Greensboro, N.C. -- Zach Craft scored 2:09
into overtime to give visiting Randolph-Macon College a 10-9 Old
Dominion Athletic Conference men's lacrosse win over Guilford
College Saturday night in the league opener for both teams.
Guilford (2-6, 0-1 ODAC) tied the game with 10
seconds left in the fourth quarter on Joe Dauksis' unassisted goal.
Randolph-Macon's JR Sander won the overtime face-off and controlled
possession for the entire period before Craft scored the winning
goal.
The Quakers overcame an early 3-0 deficit and
led 5-4 in the second quarter, before Paul Johnsen scored the
second of his game-high three goals to tie the game at 5-5 at
halftime.
The Yellow Jackets' Barnes and Johnsen tallied
the only goals of the third quarter, which gave the guests a 7-5
edge headed into the final quarter.
Guilford's Matt Meriwether answered with
back-to-back tallies to start the fourth-quarter scoring and tie
the game. Tyler Zivic's second goal of the night gave the Quakers
an 8-7 lead with 8:45 to play.
Barnes and Peter LaPaglia netted back-to-back
tallies, both with a man advantage, to restore the Randolph-Macon
(5-2, 1-0 ODAC) advantage and set up Dauksis' game-tying tally.
Johnsen and Barnes paced Randolph-Macon with a
game-best three goals apiece. Tyler Wilkins had a game-high three
assists.
Meriwether and Zivic led Guilford's scorers with
two tallies apiece. Todd Bochenek added two assists.
R-MC returns to action on April 5th when it heads to Roanoke
