12-1
ASHLAND, VA - The Randolph-Macon College softball scored a pair
of victories over visiting McDaniel College on Sunday, winning game
one by the score of 3-1 and game two 12-1 in five innings.
R-MC has now won four in a row to up its record to 5-3 on the
season. The Yellow Jackets got a strong pitching performance
from the duo of Christi Wise and Courtney Brooks in the
opener. Wise started in the circle and went four innings,
allowing three hits and no runs, while striking out seven.
Brooks picked up the win after tossing three innings of relief, and
striking out six.
The Jackets used two runs in the sixth inning to propel
themselves to victory. In that deciding frame, Morgan Greene
was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, moved to second on a
sacrifice bunt by Carrie Barchick and came around to score what
proved to be the winning run on a Brooke Snyder single.
Snyder would score an insurance run when Meaghan Mauck followed
with an RBI double.
In game two, R-MC scored eight runs in the first two innings to
take a commanding 8-1 lead early. Paige Smith recorded five
RBIs on the day and Shannon Long went 3-of-3 with three runs scored
in the victory. Katie Raulerson went the distance to pick up
