St. Mary's Earns 7-1 Victory over
Randolph-Macon Baseball

ASHLAND, VA - Three St. Mary's pitchers combined to hold
Randolph-Macon College to five hits and one run, while the Seahawks
capitalized on three Yellow Jacket errors on their way to a 7-1
victory in Ashland on Sunday afternoon.
Brian Briggs picked up his first win of the season for SMC
(2-2), going the first five innings, allowing just two hits and
striking out a pair. Greg Weidner surrendered one run on two hits
in three innings of work, while Barrett Enix closed the game out
with one inning of relief.
Leading 1-0 in the top-half of the fifth inning, St. Mary's took
advantage of two R-MC errors to score three runs and extend its
lead to 4-0. R-MC got its lone run of the game in the eighth inning
when Jeff Beck singled home Greg Meleski, cutting the Seahawk lead
to 4-1. SMC responded in its next at bat, scoring three runs to put
the game away.
Charlie Hartt (0-2) took the loss for the Jackets after starting
the game on the mound, tossing 4.2 innings, allowing six hits and
four runs, only one of which was earned.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Wednesday when it
travels to regional rival Christopher Newport University for a 2:00
p.m. game.
