How it Happened
- McDaniel took the opportunity to strike, opening the scoring of the match in the fourth minute on a shot from Carly Brock into the low right of the goal.
- In the 22nd minute, Cece Beem (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) threatened a shot to equalize the match but missed right. Five minutes later, Noel Moxey (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) took a shot that missed left.
- For the rest of the half, each team traded possessions and McDaniel took a 1-0 lead into the break.
- Coming out of the break, McDaniel doubled its advantage quickly. Alexis Keller-Posen buried a shot into the bottom right of the goal, assisted by Carly Brock, 48 seconds into the second half.
- In the 51st minute, the Yellow Jackets had back-to-back corner opportunities to cut the Green Terror's lead to one but RMC was called for offside and the chance was shut down.
- 16 minutes later, Taylor Gim (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) ripped a shot on a free kick opportunity that connected with the crossbar. Gim had another opportunity shortly after but the shot missed right.
- Action ramped up over the final 20 minutes of the match and both teams traded possessions. In the 89th and 90th minutes, Ava Tischler (McKinney, Texas/Bel Air) and Layla Dramby (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) had chances to get RMC on the score sheet but McDaniel's keeper Dierra Ruehl made a save, maintaining the shutout and closing out the match 2-0 in favor of the Green Terror.
