Men's Lacrosse Remains Top 20 in Week 9 Polls

ASHLAND, Va. – The Yellow Jackets head into week nine ranked No. 19 according to Inside Lacrosse. They are tabbed as No.20 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) coaches poll for week nine. RMC is also Receiving Votes in the USA Lacrosse Magazine media poll.

The Lemon and Black are No. 17 in the second set of NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings, the metric used by the Division III men's lacrosse committee for at-large selections as well as for seeding for the NCAA Tournament. Click here to view NPI

Men's lacrosse capped off spring break with a dominant win over the Guilford Quakers on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets used excellent play on the offensive side of the ball, totalling 76 shots with 51 on cage. Will Robertson (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall) and Carson Mingo (Cambridge, Md./Gilman) both had a 100 percent win rate from the faceoff x.

The Lemon and Black have outscored opponents 154-92. Faceoffs have been a strength for the Yellow Jackets as they have won 167 and lost 111 for a .601 percent win rate from the faceoff x. Defensively, the Yellow Jackets rank first in the conference and 27th in DIII for caused turnovers per game (11.81). Man-down defense continues to shine for RMC, as they have been man-down 35 times and have allowed only 4 goals, ranking first in the ODAC and fifth nationally in Division III. In transition, the Yellow Jackets continue to excel, as so far this season they have gone 228-256 for a clear percentage of.891, ranking 15th in the nation.

Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse is 9-2 overall on the season and 3-1 in conference play. Their next game is Wednesday, April 8, when they return to Day Field for their Green Bandana Game at 4:00 p.m.
