DANVILLE, Va. –
Jack Bowles (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) had a career-high four hits and knocked in three, including two RBI in the 11th, and
William Wian (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) tossed three scoreless innings in relief, as the Randolph-Macon baseball team posted a 10-8 ODAC victory at Averett on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened:
- The Yellow Jackets got the offense started in the top of the second. Logan Duff (Forest, Va./Liberty Christian) had a leadoff single and went to second when Justin Lanouette (Chantilly, Va./Freedom) reached on a bunt single. Duff went to third on an error and Lanouette went to second on a groundout. Zach Stolze (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield) delivered a single to right against a drawn-in infield to plate Duff and Lanouette as RMC took a 2-0 lead.
- The Cougars scored five unanswered runs before the Yellow Jackets got the bats going again in the sixth. Lanouette drew a leadoff walk and went to third when Jon Quici (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) reached on a sacrifice bunt. After Quici stole second, Stolze doubled to center to knock in Lanouette. Quici stopped at third and Stolze was caught in a rundown between second and third. Bowles singled to knock in Quici to make it 5-4.
- RMC loaded the bases with one away in the top of the seventh but was unable to score. AU had a two-run homer in the bottom of the frame to push its advantage to 7-4.
- The Cougars added a run in the eighth before the Yellow Jackets tied it in the ninth. Duff had a leadoff double, went to third when Lanouette reached on an error and came home on a groundout by Quici to make it 8-5. Stolze followed with a two-run homer, his second dinger of the season, to cut the deficit to one at 8-7. James Baffone (Wilmington, Del./St. Marks) walked, CJ Chatterton (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) was hit by a pitch and Bowles singled to right to load the bases before Zach Wernoski (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) delivered a sacrifice fly to plate Baffone, leveling the score at 8-8.
- Following a scoreless 10th, RMC reclaimed the lead in the 11th. Stolze walked and went to third when Baffone reached on an error. After Baffone stole second, Bowles singled to center to plate Stolze and Baffone, giving the visitors a 10-8 edge.
- Wian held AU hitless in the ninth and 10th before working around a leadoff double in the 11th to give RMC the 10-8 win.
By The Numbers:
- AU outhit RMC 17-15. The Yellow Jackets stranded 15, while the Cougars left 14 on base.
- Wian allowed one hit over three innings with one walk and four strikeouts to raise his record to 3-4.
- Bowles reached base five times, going 4 for 6 with a walk and driving in three.
- Stolze was a triple short of the cycle, going 3 for 5 with a double, a homer, two runs and a season-best five RBI.
- Duff had three hits, including a double, and scored twice.
- Lanouette had two hits, one walk, and three runs.
- Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) had one hit to raise his career total to 202, tying Cole Migliorini (2015-18) for fifth place on RMC's career list.
