Fowler and Pierce are named ODAC Players of the week

Pierce, Fowler Sweep Women's Lax Weekly ODAC Honors

FOREST, Va. – Senior attacker Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and Sophomore midfielder Hailey Pierce(Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) have been named ODAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. Fowler was named ODAC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time in her career and Pierce was named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career. 

The Yellow Jackets had a midweek bout with ODAC rival Lynchburg, where they earned an impressive 12-8 win. The Lemon and Black capped off the two-game week on Day Field when Bridgewater came to town, earning a 15-5 victory. 
 
Against the Hornets, Fowler posted five goals and one assist. On Saturday afternoon against the Eagles, she tallied six total points on four goals and two assists. Fowler added two ground balls and three caused turnovers to her stat line during the game. She now sits first in the conference for points (60) and assists (23). Fowler also sits third overall in the conference for goals (37). So far this season, she has been making her way up the ranks in the record book for career assists. As of today, she has tied Allison Smith (1993-96) with 109 career assists. 

Pierce has picked up where she left off last season, dominating the draw circle. Against the Hornets, she accounted for six of the Yellow Jackets' 11 draw controls. In the same game, she scooped up four ground balls, caused two turnovers and added two goals of her own to the evening. During the 15-5 win over the Eagles, Pierce added four more draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls. She finished off her stat line by tallying a goal in the contest. Pierce currently sits fourth in the conference for draw controls with 58.

RMC continues the regular season on Friday, April 3, when they travel to Winchester, Virginia, to battle Shenandoah. The first draw is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
