With five minutes and 50 seconds left on the clock, RMC notched the first goal when Hilgartner connected with midfielder Matt Carter (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run). The Yellow Jackets kept their foot on the gas and extended their lead 30 seconds later when Hilgartner slotted his first collegiate goal. The Lemon and Black added one more goal in the first quarter when Grant Sobel (Mechanicsville, Va./Christchurch) buried a pass from Logan Sinsebox (Monkton, Md./Hereford).
- The Tigers stopped the Yellow Jackets' first two possessions of the second quarter. Sewanee's Robert Free and Hudson Gregory connected in transition, making the score 3-2 with 12:08 left to play in the first half. Shortly after, Mike Allen (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) stripped the ball from Fuller and quickly pushed transition, connecting with Hilgartner for his second goal of the day, extending the Yellow Jackets' lead to two once again. With 11:15 left to play in the second quarter, Gus Albright scooped up a ground ball off the faceoff, but was quickly met by senior long stick midfielder Brodie Kent (Coquitlam, Canada/Centennial), taking the ball away and giving the Lemon and Black another offensive opportunity. Sinsebox found Hilgartner for his third goal of the afternoon, pushing the score to 5-3 with 10:57 left to go in the first half. The Tigers answered once again on a shot from Griffin Peterson, who was assisted by Robert Freeman. With 9:41 left on the clock, JT Harvey (Ruther Glen, Va./Riverbend) got on the scoresheet with an unassisted goal, making the score 6-3. Sewanee responded by tallying a man-up goal by Freeman and an unassisted goal by Blake Powers, cutting RMC's lead to one goal with 7:46 to go in the second quarter. Both teams went back and forth, trading possessions until Hilgartner tallied his fourth goal of the afternoon, keeping the Yellow Jackets in the lead 7-5 with 4:12 remaining in the half. Harvey and Sinsebox combined for one more goal to give RMC an 8-5 advantage heading into the break.

With just under three minutes left to go in the third quarter, Grant Johns (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) beat Sewanee's keeper, Flynn Bowman, extending the Yellow Jackets' lead to four. The Lemon and Black held firm defensively throughout the final minutes of the quarter. With 22 seconds on the clock, Sewanee called a timeout to draw up a play for the final shot. Jake Greene buried the ball with just one second left, making the score 9-6 heading into the final frame.
- The tigers opened the fourth quarter with a long possession that resulted in a goal two minutes in, cutting RMC's lead to two. A little over a minute later, Sobel tallied his second goal of the game, giving the Yellow Jackets a 10-7 lead. The Lemon and Black grabbed one final goal with 9:45 left in the game, when Carter recorded his second goal of the game and extended Randolph-Macon's lead to four.
