Twelve Yellow Jackets Score in Dominate Win Over McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Men's Lacrosse traveled to Westminster, Maryland, to take on McDaniel, where the Yellow Jackets' offense was on full display, with 12 different players scoring in the affair.

How it Happened
  • In the first minute of the contest, Peyton Rodriguez (Santa Barbara, Calif./Bishop Garcia Diego) recorded the first goal of the game unassisted. Logan Sinsebox (Monkton, Md./Hereford) lifted the Yellow Jackets ahead two with 7:57 left to go in the first quarter. Neither team managed to score another goal, and RMC's defense held firm, shutting the Green Terror out for the first frame of play.
  • The Lemon and Black opened the second quarter, with Rodriguez, Ian Swartzendruber (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Matt Carter (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) being assisted by Grant Sobel (Mechanicsville, Va./Christchurch), scoring three goals over the next four minutes. The two teams traded possessions back and forth until 4:42 left in the half, when Mike Allen (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) scooped up a ground ball on a failed clear attempt by McDaniel, tallying his first goal of the season and giving the Yellow Jackets a 6-0 lead. Over the next JT Harvey (Ruther Glen, Va./Riverbend) added the seventh goal of the evening and Sinsebox added the eighth goal of the afternoon, which was assisted by Sobel, giving RMC an eight-goal lead with 3:28 left in the half. With 1:34 left on the clock, RMC added one final goal of the first half, when Charlie Hilgartner (Severna Park, Md./Severn) connected with Carter, giving RMC a 9-0 lead heading into the break.
  • In the opening seven minutes of the second half, neither team could find any offensive footing. With 8:52 on the clock, the Yellow Jackets capitalized on the man-up scenario with a goal from Jackson Hedrick (Reisterstown, Md./St. Paul's) assisted by Carter. Allen and Hilgartner connected for the 11th goal of the evening with 5:19 on the clock. Less than two minutes later, Sobel added a goal to the afternoon, which was assisted by Sinsebox. In the final four minutes of the third quarter, both teams traded possessions and the Lemon and Black head into the final frame with a 12-goal lead.
  • RMC's offense remained poised and added a pair of goals, with JJ Phillips (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) and Sobel each recording a goal and assisting the other. Freshman Jake Dudley (Locust Grove, Va./Woodberry Forest) tallied the next two goals for RMC, one at the 7:56 mark and the other at the 6:23 mark. With 4:20 left in the contest, McDaniel found the back of the net on an unassisted effort by Cash Stanton, making the score 16-1. At the 1:09 mark in the fourth quarter, Matthew Sutty (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum) tallied his first goal of the season. The Yellow Jackets closed out the quarter, only allowing two more shots from the Green terror, taking home the 17-1 victory.

  • Sobel led the Lemon and Black offensively with five points on two goals and three assists.

  • Will Robertson (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall), Carson Mingo (Cambridge, Md./Gilman) and Ethan McCrea (Oak Hill, Va./South Lakes) went 15-19 (78.9%) from the face off x.
  • Harvey, Hilgartner, Swartzendruber, Phillips, Hedrick and Sutty recorded a goal against McDaniel.
  • Beaux Wojciechowski (Colorado Springs, Colo./Vista Ridge), Hilgartner, Sinsebox, Phillips and Allen tallied one assist in the contest.
  • The Lemon and Black held the advantage in ground balls over the Green Terror 37-15.
  • The Yellow Jackets held the advantage in transition, going 19-20 (95%) in the clear while the Bears went 18-25 (72%).
  • RMC cashed in on the extra-man opportunities, going 2-6 while McDaniel went 0-4.
