Career Night from Antinori Lifts #8 Men’s Hoops Over Eastern Mennonite


ASHLAND, Va. -  Randolph-Macon Men's Basketball saw Theo Antinori (Asheville, N.C./Rabun Gap) lead the team with a career-high 19 points in a convincing victory over Eastern Mennonite, 95-46.  

The Basics:

How it Happened:
  • Randolph-Macon started the game hot with a 15-4, running the clock down to the 13:17 mark of the first half. Antinori led the scoring with five and Malcolm Hodges (Richmond, Va./Monacan) added four to the run. The Royals would score seven of the next ten points, led by Isaiah Carr to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to 18-11 with 11:25 on the clock. Keishawn Pulley Jr. (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's School) helped the Lemon and Black answer with a 10-0 run, as the senior contributed five points and sent the lead to 28-11. Ty Showalter (Charlotte, N.C./Butler) nailed a three-pointer to shoot RMC into a 20 point lead at 34-14 with 6:49 left in the half. In the final six minutes of the half, six different Yellow Jackets scored and Hodges made the lead 30 points at 49-19 with a lay-up with :42 seconds left. Eastern Mennonite made the final shot of the half on a Carr triple, but Randolph-Macon took a 49-22 lead into halftime. 
  • In the second half, Pulley Jr. and Antinori both made three balls to help RMC score ten of the first twelve points, as the Lemon and Black would lead 59-24. The Royals fought back and cut the Yellow Jacket lead to less than 20 points at 66-37 with 10:52 left in the game. Randolph-Macon turned the heat back up, outscoring Eastern Mennonite 22-5, as James Carswell (Charlotte, N.C./Cox Mill) capped off the run with a three-pointer and gave RMC a 88-42 lead with 3:36 on the clock. Bryce Scott (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day) had a lay-up with :36 seconds left in the game, giving a 51 point lead to Randolph-Macon at 95-44. Mari Foxx finished the scoring in the game with a jumper for Eastern Mennonite, but the Lemon and Black won the game by a score of 95-46.       
Inside the Numbers:
  • Randolph-Macon shot 60.7 percent from the floor, as Eastern Mennonite knocked down 44.4 percent of its shots. 
  • The Yellow Jackets outrebounded the Royals 32-to-18 in the entire game.
  • Antinori led the Lemon and Black in scoring with a career-high 19 points. The junior tied his career mark in three-pointers made (4), adding three assists, three steals, two rebounds and two blocks. 
  • Showalter ended the night with 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and a block. 
  • Liam Joyce (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) scored 14 points, three steals, two rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot. 
  • Amr Areikat (Ramallah, Palestine./Langley) nailed three triples in the game to go to his 11 point evening. 
  • Hodges and Pulley Jr. both scored 10 points in the game to represent the final two double digit scorers. The duo combined with four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
  • Delani Hammonds (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell) was all over the court tonight for Randolph-Macon. The sophomore recorded seven assists, four steals, two rebounds and scored two points.
For the Record: 
  • Pulley Jr. has now passed Dale Kurowsky '71 for 29th all-time in career scoring at Randolph-Macon with 1,221 points. 
  • Randolph-Macon has now recorded 57 assists in back-to-back games on 72 made field goals. 
  • This is the seventh game this season in which the Yellow Jackets have scored 90 or more points. 
  • The Yellow Jackets have now held opponents to 50 points or less in eight games.
