ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon College Director of Athletics
Jeff Burns has announced the promotion of
Christian Taylor as the new Interim Director of Volleyball, where he will oversee the Yellow Jackets' men's and women's volleyball programs. Taylor steps into the role following the departure of Kelsey Goodman, who is stepping down after a one-year stint at Randolph-Macon College coaching the women's volleyball program.
"Developing the mind and character of our student athletes and delivering a first-class experience is the mission of our athletic department. Christian has excelled in those areas on the men's side and is poised to bring that energy and focus to our women's program," said Burns.
Taylor has served as the head coach for the Randolph-Macon men's volleyball team since 2021-22, where he has enhanced the program into one of the best teams in the region. Under his leadership the Yellow Jackets have posted an impressive 75-47 overall record (.615) and achieved historic milestones that have elevated the profile of the program. In 2025, Taylor guided the Lemon and Black to a 22-10 overall mark and a perfect 12-0 record in conference play, capturing the inaugural Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's volleyball tournament championship. The Yellow Jackets went on to participate in the program's first NCAA Tournament berth.
Taylor was honored as ODAC Coach of the Year in 2025 and was selected for the prestigious American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 list, recognizing him as one of the sport's top young leaders.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to continue to lead athletes here at Randolph-Macon. The women's volleyball program here has a deep history of success that I am thrilled to continue building on with the student athletes," said Taylor.
