Yellow Jackets Open Season With 4-3 Win

ASHLAND, Va. – Women's tennis opens its season with a 4-3 win at home, as the Yellow Jackets top the Bullets in a competitive first contest.

Doubles
 
Women's doubles opened its season with some resilient performances, sweeping the Bullets 3-0 for the doubles point. Not only did each duo rally from down at least a game, but the highlight came at first doubles, where seniors Catherine Mowry (Lynchburg, Va./Liberty) and Camilla Thurman (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville) rallied back from a 4-1 deficit to capture the set, 6-4.

(RMC) Meckenzie Letellier (Alexandria, Va./Bishop) and Victoria Updike (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) def. (GET) Lindsay Paullin and Emma Ward, 6-4.
(RMC) Campbell Andrulot (Baldwin, Md./Dulaney) and Salomea Tchantouridze (Barre, Vt./U-32) def. (GET) Claire Carroccio and Meaghan Dougherty, 6-4.
 
Singles
 
RMC was able to split the singles matches 3-3, thanks to an impressive final victory from Elizabeth Key (Moseley, Va./Cosby). Her three-set win helped the Yellow Jackets open the season 1-0, registering a final score of 4-3. Furthermore, both Mowry and Updike won their singles matches, helping to clinch the match.
