ASHLAND, Va. – Avery Tankersley chipped in two goals and a pair of ground balls as Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse closed the regular season with an 18-6 defeat at the hands of 15
th-ranked Lynchburg on Friday afternoon.

How it Happened
- The Yellow Jackets got an early extra man opportunity after an offsides call, allowing them to cash in on the first goal of the game from Matthew Sutty (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum) at the 10:45 mark of the first quarter. The Hornets tied the score less than three minutes later, but Avery Tankersley (Baltimore, Md./Boys Latin) netted RMC's second goal 42 seconds later. Beau Wojciechowski (Colorado Springs, Colo./Vista Ridge) picked up a rebound off a saved shot and netted the put-back to put RMC up 3-. With 56 seconds left in the frame, Lynchburg brought the deficit back within one to make the score 3-2 after 15 minutes of play.
- Lynchburg started the second quarter with four straight goals, extending their run to five straight. Tankersley's second tally got RMC back on the board with 5:13 left until half to make the score 6-4, but Lynchburg scored four more goals the rest of the frame to take a 9-4 lead into the halftime break.
- The third quarter was all Hornets, as they posted six unanswered goals to push the lead to 15-4. JJ Phillips (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) started the scoring in the fourth quarter with 13:43 left. After three Hornets goals, RMC scored the final goal of the game, thanks to JT Harvey (Ruther Glen, Va./Riverbend).
