How It Happened:
- After the Battling Bishops were retired in order in the top of the first, the Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the frame. Sophomore Jack Bowles (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) and Wernoski drew walks to start the rally. A double by Schmitt brought home Bowles with the game's first run. Wernoski scored on a groundout by senior Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley) and Schmitt came in on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.
- After NCWU tied it in the second, RMC answered in the bottom of the second. With one away, freshman CJ Chatterton (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) walked, stole second and scored on a double by Bowles. Wernoski walked and both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Schmitt singled to center to bring home Bowles and Wernoski scored on a sacrifice fly by Lautenschlager to give the home team a 6-3 advantage.
- The Yellow Jackets put up another crooked number in the fourth. Wernoski had a bunt single and scored on an error. Lautenschlager reached on a fielder's choice and came home on a double by senior Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./Miller School) to make it 8-3. Harvey scored on an error as the lead grew to 9-3. Sophomore Jon Quici (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) singled and came home on a sacrifice fly by junior Logan Duff (Forest, Va./Liberty Christian) to make it 10-3.
