Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) knocked in three and sophomore
Zach Wernoski (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) scored three times as the Randolph-Macon baseball team posted an 8-2 victory at No. 28 Mary Washington on Thursday afternoon.

How It Happened:
- The Yellow Jackets started the scoring in the third. Sophomore Jack Bowles (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) had a one-out double and came home on a two-bagger by Wernoski. A single by junior Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) moved Wernoski to third and a sacrifice fly by Lautenschlager plated Wernoski to give the visitors a 2-0 edge.
- The Eagles put a runner on second with two away in the bottom of the third. The runner tried to score on a base hit to right, but Bowles nailed the runner at the plate to keep UMW off the board.
- RMC put up another crooked number in the fifth. Wernoski singled and scored on a double by Lautenschlager to make it 3-0. Senior Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./Miller School) walked and Lautenschlager scored on a wild pitch to push it to 4-0. Â Sophomore Jon Quici (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) was hit by a pitch to move Harvey to second. A double by sophomore James Baffone (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) knocked in Harvey and Quici scored on a groundout by freshman Brian Fleming (Rehoboth, Del./Cape Henlopen) to give RMC a 6-0 lead.
- Wernoski was hit by a pitch in the sixth and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lautenschlager to extend the advantage to 7-0.
- Baffone tripled in the seventh and came in on a single by freshman CJ Chatterton (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) to make it 8-0.
- The Eagles added single runs in the seventh and eighth to make the final 8-2.
By The Numbers
- RMC snapped a two-game losing streak to UMW. The Eagles had won five of the previous six meetings, including a 9-4 victory in Fredericksburg earlier this season.
- Wernoski went 2 for 3 with a double, a walk, three runs and one RBI.
- Lautenschlager was 1 for 3 with a double, a run and three RBI.
- Baffone was 2 for 5 with a double, a triple, one run and one RBI.
- Chatterton had two hits and one RBI.
- Sophomore Peter Phillips (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) started for the Yellow Jackets, tossing three scoreless innings with three hits, no walks and four strikeouts.
- Freshman Braxton Pope (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) picked up the win in relief, hurling two scoreless frames with two hits, one walk and one strikeout.
- The RMC defense played errorless baseball and turned two double plays, including one to end the contest.
