SALEM, Va. – Junior
Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) went 6 for 10 with two doubles, three runs and four RBI as the Randolph-Macon baseball team swept an ODAC doubleheader at Roanoke on Saturday.

How It Happened:
- The Maroons plated a pair in the bottom of the first before the Yellow Jackets put up a crooked number in the seventh. Junior Logan Duff (Forest, Va./Liberty Christian) drew a leadoff walk, went to second on a balk, advanced to third on a two-out single by freshman CJ Chatterton (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) and scored on a base hit by sophomore Jon Quici (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) to make it 2-1. Following a pitching change, senior Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) singled to load the bases. Chatterton scored on an error tie the game at 2-2. Schmitt had a base hit to knock in Quici to give RMC a 3-2 edge.
- Roanoke would tally a run in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings.
- In the top of the 11th, Chatterton had a leadoff single and went to third on a base hit by Quici. Lautenschlager reached on a fielder's choice to drive in Chatterton and give RMC a 4-3 edge. Sophomore Jack Bowles (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) delivered a sacrifice fly and sophomore James Baffone (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) added an RBI double as RMC took a 6-3 advantage.
- Senior Sam Slevin (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank Cox) pitched a scoreless 11th to preserve the win for the Yellow Jackets.

How It Happened:
- RMC put up three in the top of the first. Bowles drew a leadoff walk and Lautenschlager was hit by a pitch. A base hit by Schmitt knocked in Bowles and Lautenschlager scored on a passed ball to make it 2-0. Schmitt came home on a single by freshman Brian Fleming (Rehoboth, Del./Cape Henlopen) as the visitors went up 3-0.
- RC tallied single runs in the second and third before the Yellow Jackets put up another crooked number in the fourth. Bowles and Schmitt delivered two-run singles as RMC took a 7-2 lead.
- The Maroons put up one in the fourth and three in the fifth to pull within one at 7-6.
- Chatterton drew a leadoff walk in the sixth, stole second, and scored on a passed ball as the Yellow Jackets pushed the lead to 8-6.
- Senior Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./Miller School) had a leadoff double in the seventh and scored on a passed ball to make it 9-6. Quici singled and came home on a base hit by Baffone as the advantage grew to 10-6.
- Baffone had a two-run single to highlight a five-run eighth, making the score 15-6.
- Schmitt had a leadoff double and scored to spark a four-run ninth as the lead grew to 19-6.
- RC added a run in the bottom of the ninth to make the final 19-7.
