How it Happened
  • EMU picked up the first basket of the game just a minute and a half in. Another minute went by before the Yellow Jackets got on the board with a three-point play by Liam Joyce (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic). Jabril Robinson (Rockville, Md./South Kent Prep) and Ash Ally (Melbourne, Australia/Nossal) each hit a triple to extend the RMC lead to 9-4 early on. EMU knocked down four of their first six threes to take an 18-15 lead with 11:09 left in the first half, but RMC ignited a 9-0 run to take a six-point lead. The Yellow Jackets maintained their lead through the remainder of the first half as they took a 38-31 lead into the break.
  • RMC started the second half with a dunk by Malcolm Hodges (Richmond, Va./Monacan) which kickstarted a 15-6 run in the first 4:40 of the frame. Seven of the next nine points went in favor of the Royals, forcing a timeout by the Yellow Jackets. Out of the timeout, a 33-foot alley-oop from Robinson to Hodges got the RMC offense started again. From that point, RMC opened up a 23-point lead. The Royals scored just four points over the final 11:09 of the game as the Yellow Jackets pulled away to win 78-48.
