ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Men's Basketball sits at the #2 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll for the fourth straight week, after an impressive 2-0 week, defeating #8 Hampden-Sydney and #14 Roanoke.
The Yellow Jackets started the week with a dominant 85-50 victory over #8 Hampden-Sydney at home. Randolph-Macon forced 27 turnovers by the Tigers and were led offensively by
Jabril Robinson (Rockville, Md./South Kent Prep) with the 24 point performance.
Delani Hammonds (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell),
Liam Joyce (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic),
Ty Showalter (Charlotte, N.C./Butler) and
Theo Antinori (Asheville, N.C./Rabun Gap) also produced double figure point totals in the dominant home win.
In the Saturday matchup with #14 Roanoke, the Lemon and Black needed to come from behind to secure a 66-61 victory to sweep the week of the games. Robinson led the way offensively with 15 points and
Keishawn Pulley Jr. (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's School) neared his first career double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. The team also saw great play by Antinori and Joyce that also ended the game in double figure scoring.
The Yellow Jackets finished its stretch of five games perfect against opponents either receiving votes or ranked in the national poll. Randolph-Macon defeated three top-15 teams in that stretch (#8 Hampden-Sydney, #9 Christopher Newport and #14 Roanoke).
Randolph-Macon will be off this week before heading to Gallatin, Tennessee for the Music City Classic on Dec. 19-20. The team will open up the weekend with Centre College and finish with a game against Augsburg University.
