How it Happened
- Two minutes into the game, the Generals got the scoring started with a shot from Elizabeth Zimmerman outside the box that connected with the crossbar and bounced over the goal line.
- The Yellow Jackets had a chance for the equalizer in the 16th minute on a shot from Alexa Stohr (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) that was pushed away by the W&L keeper Kate McEnroe. The Generals looked to extend their lead later in the half but senior goalkeeper Erin Morris (Manchester, N.H./Bishop Guertin) stopped each threatening shot and RMC went into halftime down 1-0.
- The Generals came out of halftime testing Morris in the first nine minutes of the second half. Six minutes later, W&L doubled their lead on a long ball from Bryn Bissinger that connected with Helen Otteni on a breakaway who placed the ball in the bottom left corner.
- In the 74th minute, Ariel Farmer (Chesterfield, Va./Clover Hill), who was inserted into the second half 10 minutes prior, found herself one-on-one with McEnroe after beating two defenders. However, Farmer could not capitalize and the Generals maintained their lead. W&L maintained control the rest of the half and walked away with a 2-0 victory.
