ASHLAND, Va. – Six members of the Randolph-Macon football team have been named to the 2024 Academic All-District® Football team for NCAA Division III, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
The honorees for the Yellow Jackets include:
Senior linebacker
Jackson Deaver (Fayetteville, N.C./Terry Sanford), Business Management major with minors in Economics and Biology
Senior cornerback
Brandon Evans (Frederick, Md./Frederick), Business major
Senior defensive tackle
Wade Grubbs (Providence Forge, Va./New Kent), double major in Business Finance and Economics with minors in Asian Studies and Religious Studies
Senior kicker
Kyle Ihle (Apex, N.C./Middle Creek), double major in Accounting and Economics
Senior wide receiver and holder
Jack Landis (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg), Business Marketing major with minors in Economics and Asian Studies
Sophomore safety
Quentin Mankin (Dinwiddie, Va./Dinwiddie), double major in Communication Studies and Political Science with minor in Journalism
Honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and be at least a sophomore academically.
Evans, Grubbs, Ihle, Landis and Mankin were selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced January 28, 2025.
Deaver and Ihle were Academic All-District in 2022 and 2023, while Evans and Grubbs were Academic All-District a season ago.
Following the record-setting season of 2023, RMC posted seven straight conference wins to earn its 15th ODAC championship, the most in conference history. The Yellow Jackets were ranked No. 15 in the NCAA Power Index (NPI) and earned a bye in the first round of the NCAA Championship. RMC would host No. 23 Washington & Jefferson in the second round. The Yellow Jackets rallied from a 14-0 deficit to record a 38-22 victory. RMC joined Mount Union, North Central and Wartburg as the only programs to reach the Round of 16 in 2022, 2023 and 2024. The season would end for the Yellow Jackets at No. 3 Salisbury in the third round of the NCAA Championship.
