ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Football picked off Guilford five times to highlight a dominant 62-3 homecoming victory.

How it Happened
- Guilford got the ball to begin the game, drove the ball into RMC territory and were shut down on fourth down to turn the ball over to the Yellow Jackets. Joshua Williams (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) and Zach Tyler (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) tackled Nick Danciu for a three yard loss on the Randolph-Macon 29 yard line with 9:30 left in the opening quarter.
- The Lemon and Black used tempo on offense, driving the ball down the field deep into Quaker territory. Mitchell Johnson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) capped off a 12-play, 71 yard drive with a one yard rushing touchdown. The score kicked off the scoring and gave RMC a 7-0 lead with 3:39 left in the first quarter.
- Guilford ran seven more plays in the first quarter, keeping the ball going into the second quarter and Randolph-Macon held a slim 7-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets held the Quakers at midfield and forced a punt with 13:12 left in the half.
- RMC were getting yards in bunches on the ensuing drive, only needing seven plays to find themselves in the endzone for a 14-0 lead. Detric Brown (Winchester, Va./Millbrook) ran the ball into the endzone from three yards out to cap off a six play, 83 yard drive.
- The elite defense from the Lemon and Black turned into points for RMC on the next Guilford drive. Tyler picked off Danciu at the Quaker 41 yard line and returned the ball to the house for a touchdown. The extra point would be wide of the upright and Randolph-Macon extended its lead to 20-0 with 9:03 left in the half.
- Guilford did hold onto the ball on its next drive up to midfield until Danciu threw his second interception of the game. Khamari Veney (King William, Va./Benedictine) was credited with the interception and returned it 67 yards to the endzone for a touchdown. RMC benefited from back-to-back pick sixes and extended its lead to 27-0 with 6:11 on the clock.
- The Quakers did put points on the board on the ensuing drive, as Colby Tucker nailed a 50-yard field goal. RMC still led 27-3 with 1:08 left in the quarter.
- Randolph-Macon punched back with a great kickoff return by Jaedyn McAdoo (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill), as he took the 48-yard return into Guilford territory. The Yellow Jackets only needed two plays to score right before the halftime break. Ryley Justus (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) found Malakiah Moore (Richmond, Va./Varina) wide open over the middle of the field for a 35-yard touchdown. The lead grew to 34-3 for RMC, heading into the halftime break.
- The Lemon and Black got the ball coming out of the half and drove right down the field. The 10 play drive was capped off by a rushing touchdown by Josh Bauman (Morehead City, N.C./West Carteret) from 10 yards out and the lead extended to 41-3.
- Guilford could not hold onto the ball once again, as Danciu threw his third interception of the game. Thomas Dobias (Sophia, N.C./Randleman) jumped the route and returned the ball down to the Quaker 28 yard line with 8:04 left in the third quarter.
- Randolph-Macon needed only four plays, as Jackson Landis (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) ran the ball in from four yards out for a touchdown. The lead grew to 48-3 for the Yellow Jackets with 6:07 on the clock.
- The Lemon and Black scored one more time before the end of the third quarter to increase their lead to 55-3. Jayden Howard (Havelock, N.C./Havelock) scored a rushing touchdown from two yards out.
- Guilford threw another interception at the start of the fourth quarter, as Jacob Kyger (Reston, Va./South Lakes) picked off Tristan Gabrels deep in RMC territory.
- The last interception of the game thrown by the Quakers came at the 5:43 mark of the fourth quarter. Dobias picked off Gabrels at midfield to set up the Randolph-Macon offense.
- The Yellow Jackets added one more touchdown to their total on the day, putting a bow on a dominant 62-3 victory. Kevin China (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) rushed in from seven yards out for the score.

- The Yellow Jackets outrushed the Quakers 214-to-69 in the game.
- Randolph-Macon had 183 passing yards, compared to Guilford's 130.
- RMC outgained GC in total offense 397-to-199.
- Justus led the trio of quarterbacks to play for the Yellow Jackets, going 6-for-6 for 102 yards and one touchdown. Mulhern and Landis combined to go 5-for-5 for 81 yards.
- Johnson, China, Landis, Howard, Bauman and Brown all recorded a rushing touchdown for Randolph-Macon in the game.
- Moore led the wideouts with two receptions for 69 yards and added a touchdown.
- Dobias had two interceptions in the game to go with his four total tackles.
- Veney, Tyler and Kyger all recorded an interception in the game.
- Matthew MacNichol (Roanoke Rapids, N.C./Roanoke Rapids) led the team in tackles with nine overall.
- Parker Funk (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) tallied two sacks for the Lemon and Black.
For the Record
- Johnson scored his 36th rushing touchdown of his career, passing Howard Stevens for fourth most in program history. The senior is now tied with Tre Frederick '19 for third all-time in rushing touchdowns.
