How it Happened
  • The Yellow Jackets kept possession for a lot of the first frame, posting six shots to Hood's two. The Blazers' goalkeeper made five saves in the first 15 minutes. Both teams were held scoreless, however, after a plethora of chances on both sides.
  • Nearly four minutes into the second quarter, Llana Thach (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) put a shot in the back of the cage after a scrum in the circle. Four minutes later, Brenna McLean (Rock Hall, Md./Queen Anne's County) scored to push the lead to 2-0, which RMC took into the break.
  • The Blazers looked to flip the tide in the third, holding possession for much of the quarter. Hood put up six shots in the quarter, looking to equalize, but Ambrogi-Torres stopped two shots to keep the opposition off the board.
  • The fourth quarter was action-packed from both sides. The two teams combined for 9 shots on goal but all shots were saved as the goal keepers controlled the game. Randolph-Macon had two opportunities at penalty corners, but were defended well by the Blazers. The RMC defense held strong throughout the final 15 minutes to secure the 2-0 win for the second victory of the year.
