Moul Records First Career Multi-Point Game at SMCM

ASHLAND, Va. – Natalie Moul (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) recorded her first career multi-point game with a goal and an assist, as RMC Field Hockey fell in overtime at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
Score: Randolph-Macon 3, St. Mary's (Md.) 4 (Overtime)
Venue: Jamie L. Roberts Stadium
Records: Randolph-Macon (2-2), St. Mary's (Md.) (2-2)
How it Happened
  • The Seahawks got a busy first half started by scoring less than two minutes into the game, shortly after being awarded a penalty corner. After five saves by Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) in the first 10 minutes of the game, SMCM got on the board again with their second goal, with less than two minutes to go in the frame. Before the quarter was over, RMC was awarded a penalty stroke that Ashlyn White (Frederick, Md./Urbana) made the best of, cutting the deficit in half to 2-1 after 15 minutes of play.
  • Just 19 seconds into the second quarter, SMCM struck for another goal, making it three total goals between the teams in a span of three minutes. A green card sent the Seahawks down a player, which allowed Natalie Moul to bring the Yellow Jackets back within one. Just three and a half minutes later, SMCM got another green card, which RMC made the most of again. This time, Llana Thach (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) found the back of the cage to tie the score at three, which it stayed through the remainder of the half.
  • The third quarter was all defense, as there was only one total shot between the two teams over the 15 minutes of play. RMC did get a penalty corner to open the fourth quarter, but the SMCM defense stayed strong. They put two more shots on goal, but Ambrogi-Torres stopped both. The defenses held the opposition scoreless in the second half as the game was sent to overtime.
  • RMC got a breakaway early in the extra time, but the Seahawks defense made the play to keep the game going. Just under seven minutes into overtime, SMCM got a penalty corner which they cashed in on to take the win, 4-3.
