DANVILLE, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's soccer team saw
Riley Russ (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and
Ally Spangler (Daleville, Va./Lord Botetourt) both record two goals each to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 6-0 win over Averett on the road.

How it Happened
- Randolph-Macon began the game attacking in the Averett half of the field. In the third minute, the Yellow Jackets had a throw in deep in Cougar territory to potentially grab an early lead. The ball was pinballed to the feet of Alexa Stohr (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) and she set up a pass to Riley Russ. The senior used her right foot to beat the goalkeeper and give the Lemon and Black a 1-0 lead early.
- The Yellow Jackets doubled its lead in the 12th minute, as Lauren Brokaw (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) led Lora Bertram (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) with a masterful header and Bertram finished the rest to find the back of the net.
- Randolph-Macon kept the offensive pressure on, as Riley Russ would steal a pass in the Cougar half of the field and beat the goalkeeper in the 30th minute, giving the Yellow Jackets a 3-0 lead.
- In the 42nd minute, Ariel Farmer (Chesterfield, Va./Clover Hill) added an unassisted goal to give Randolph-Macon a 4-0 lead.
- The Lemon and Black would tally another goal 30 seconds after Farmer's, Madison Blanchard (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) found a wide open Spangler to send the score to 5-0 into halftime.
- Spangler converted her second goal of the afternoon in the 69th minute with an assist by Natalie Moxey (Fairfax, Va./Robinson).
- Throughout the 90 minute match, the Yellow Jackets defensive backline held Averett to only two shots on goal to limit any chance to score. Randolph-Macon would finish the weekend with two key conference wins and would defeat Averett 6-0.
