How it Happened
- The first quarter was a defensive battle, as the ball was played in the midfield for most of the frame. Neither goalie saw any action in the first 15 minutes as the score remained 0-0.
- The Yellow Jackets were the first ones to put a shot on goal in the game. Mia Kuhnle (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) had the first chance for the Yellow Jackets, followed by some other chances for RMC late in the quarter but the Griffins defense held strong to keep the score knotted at zero through 30 min.
- The offense turned up the pressure in the third quarter, doubling their shots on goal total in the first six minutes. Five minutes later, a pair of shots were followed by a penalty corner, giving RMC a chance to score before the end of the quarter. The Yellow Jackets couldn't push a goal across as the score remained tied at zero with 15 minutes left in regulation.
- Seven minutes into the fourth quarter, Randolph-Macon broke through for the first goal of the game, as Natalie Moul (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) found the back of the cage to give RMC a 1-0 lead. It took just two minutes for the Yellow Jackets to light up the scoreboard again, as Mia Kuhnle extended the lead out to two with six minutes left. The Griffins were able to get a corner with just over three minutes remaining, but their lone shot went wide as RMC took the 2-0 win.
