How it Happened
- There weren't many chances on either side in the first quarter, as UMW had the only shot on goal of the frame, which was saved by Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School). Otherwise, the ball was played in the middle of the field for a majority of the frame.
- UMW was able to get the first two corners of the game in the second frame, with only getting one shot on goal, which was once again saved. The one shot came with 12 seconds left in the quarter. The two sides took a 0-0 tie into halftime.
- A minute and a half into the second half, the Eagles were awarded a corner, which they cashed in on, making the score 1-0. UMW got a couple more corners and had a few more shots, but nothing to write home about. RMC got some offense rolling at the end of the frame, putting a shot on cage, but the Eagles took a 1-0 lead into the fourth.
- RMC kept the momentum, earning a corner just two minutes into the frame. UMW answered with one of their own, leading to their second goal of the game. Ambrogi-Torres would make two more saves over the course of the quarter but the Eagles finished off the shutout to win 2-0.
