How it Happened
  • RMC opened the game with two shots in the first two and half minutes of the game before Llana Thach (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) got RMC on the board at the four-minute mark off a pass from Alaina McCoy (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford). The Yellow Jackets dominated possession through the next three minutes, which was capped off by the second goal of the day. This time, Mackenzie Wunderlich (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal) inserted a penalty corner, then got it right back to score. RMC wasn't done there, as two more goals poured in over the next two minutes. Cali Kujawa (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) and Mia Kuhnle (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) each netted goals to extend the lead to 4-0. Breea Dresler (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) and Courtney Moodie (Hummelstown, Va./Hershey) got in on the goal-scoring as well, each pushing one across in the final 2:05 of the first quarter as RMC finished a six-goal first frame.
  • The Yellow Jackets dominated time with possession into the second period, adding five more shots at the Southern Virginia goal. The Knights saw Morgan Smith make two saves to her credit to keep the game at 6-0 at halftime.
  • In the third period, Randolph-Macon sent five shots on frame and Smith managed to turn all of them away. Sarah Newman (Toano, Va./Walsingham Academy) finally beat Smith, as the junior scored her first goal of the season with under two minutes left in the period.
  • The Yellow Jackets tallied their eighth goal of the game by Samantha Major (Newport News, Va./Menchville) that was assisted by Newman. The goal was the first for Major in her career for Randolph-Macon. McCoy would add a final goal in the final moments of the game, as Moul recorded her third assist of the game.
