ASHLAND, Va. – Junior
Gracie Ellis (New Kent, Va./New Kent) notched her fourth straight complete-game shutout in game one tossing seven scoreless innings with ten strikeouts in the opener, as the Yellow Jacket offense totaled 20 hits on the day to sweep Guilford College.

How It Happened:
Game 1
- The Yellow Jackets started the game with a lead off homer by Amanda Lanyon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) to take the early lead. Randolph-Macon didn't stop their adding two more runs to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Naomi Sadler (Emporia, Va./Brunswick) walked and Rilee Baughan (Rappahannock, Va./Warsaw) doubled into left field. Sadler scored on a Kayla Davis (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) singled up the middle and a Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) sacrifice flyout to center plated Baughan from third base.
- Ellie Herndon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) singled into left center field to begin the bottom half of the second inning. Herndon was put out at second base as Lanyon reached on a fielder's choice. Lanyon stole second and was brought home on a Sadler single through the right side to push the Randolph-Macon lead to 4-0.
- In the third inning, the Lemon and Black tacked on one more run to take a 5-0 lead. Davis reached first base with a one out single up the middle, Jacy Ramos (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) pinch ran and moved over to third on a Hannah Martin (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) down the right field line. In a first and third situation Martin took second and the throw allowed Ramos to score from third base.
- Randolph-Macon added one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Blayne Talley (Richmond, Va./Cosby) scored on a Lanyon sacrifice flyout to center field.
- Ellis was marvelous in the circle for the Lemon and Black, the junior had five Quakers in scoring position with less than two outs throughout the game. Ellis managed to get out of each situation to help claim a 6-0 shutout win for the Yellow Jackets in game one.
By The Numbers
- Lanyon ended the day with two hits, including a solo home run and totaled two RBIs. The junior also scored twice and stole a base.
- Davis and Sadler each tallied an RBI for the Yellow Jackets in the game.
- Baughan ended the game with a double and walked once.
- Ellis threw her fourth straight shutout in the circle for the Yellow Jackets, pitching seven complete innings with ten strikeouts and giving up only five hits. The junior is now 10-0 on the season and notched her sixth shut-out of the season.
How It Happened:
Game 2
- Randolph-Macon used another quick start at the plate in game two, scoring two runs in the first inning. Lanyon doubled to start the game and Sadler had a bunt single to begin the game. Baughan singled into right field to plate Lanyon to break the ice and Sadler scored on a Owens single up the middle to double the Yellow Jacket lead.
- Baughan hit her second homer of the weekend in the third inning with a solo shot to give Randolph-Macon a 3-0 lead.
- Guilford found their first run of the day in the top half of the fourth inning. Gace Calus led off the inning with a single through the right side and Shiloh Gray walked to pose the threat. Calus scored on a fielding error in right field by Randolph-Macon to cut the deficit to 3-1.
- The Quakers managed to get the tying run on base in the top of the seventh inning with one out, but Baughan retired the final two batters to end the game and sweep over Guilford.
By The Numbers
- Lanyon ended the second game going 3-for-4 with a double and stolen base.
- Baughan recorded two hits in three plate appearances and recorded two RBIs with a home-run and a double.
- Owens ended with two hits and an RBI for the Yellow Jackets.
- Baughan notched her sixth win of the season, the senior threw a complete game, allowing only one run on four hits. She also fanned four Guilford batters in the win in the circle.
For The Record
- Lanyon hit her 36th career double in game two of the doubleheader and that moved her into being tied for third all-time in program history. The junior also notched her 154 career hit in game two of the doubleheader. This mark moves her into fifth all-time in program history. The third mark Lanyon has is getting her 81st stolen base and that moves her to third all-time in program history.
- Baughan's homer in game two is the 29th of her career and moves her to being tied for third in program history.
