The Basics
Score: Randolph-Macon 11, McDaniel 8
Venue: Gill Stadium
Records: RMC 7-0, McDaniel 5-1
How it Happened
- In the first period, it would be the Green Terrors striking first to open the scoring for the afternoon. The Yellow Jackets would respond quickly and make the game level thanks to a goal from Logan Sinsebox (Monkton, Md./Hereford). The first 15 minutes of play would end with McDaniel scoring three unanswered, as RMC found themselves in an early hole.
- The Yellow Jackets would come out firing early on in the second period as they would respond with three goals of their own. Harvery and Matthew Sutty (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum) would each score while Sinsebox netted his second on the game, bringing the game back level. The RMC run wouldn't end there as Harvey would rifle another shot past the McDaniel keeper to give the Yellow Jackets the lead going into the halftime locker rooms.
- RMC would extend their lead to two goals early on in the half as Payne would net a man up goal. McDaniel would respond with a goal of their own to make it 6-5 and stay in striking distance of the Yellow Jackets. Payne would end the period with two more goals to make it a hat trick for him in under 15 minutes of play, while Harvey also tallied his third goal of the afternoon. RMC took a three goal advantage into the final frame.
- The Green Terrors would gain some momentum to begin the fourth period by scoring back-to-back goals to trim the Yellow Jackets lead to just one. Back-to-back goals by Avery Tankersley (Baltimore, Md. Boys Latin) would stop McDaniel's late surge. RMC would hold on to remain undefeated and bring a win home to Ashland.
