ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon bullpen recorded 11 strikeouts in 6.1 scoreless innings in a 6-4 loss to Messiah on Friday afternoon.

How It Happened:
- The Falcons scored once in the first and five in the third to take a quick 6-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets put two on in both the first and second innings but were unable to score.
- RMC finally dented home plate in the eighth. Freshman Jon Quici (Philadelphia, Pa./Conestoga) had a leadoff single and scored on a double by freshman Zach Wernoski (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) to make it 6-1. Wernoski went to third on a single by junior Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley) and came home on a fielder's choice by senior Myles Webb (Norfolk, Va./Granby) as the margin narrowed to 6-2. Webb scored on a double by junior Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./The Miller School) and a two-bagger by senior Richie Dudley (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) drove in Harvey to make it 6-4. Sophomore Nathan Chen (South Riding, Va./Freedom) had an infield single to put the tying run on base, but the inning ended with the score remaining 6-4.
- Quici reached on an error to start the ninth and went to third on a one-out single by Lautenschlager. But both were stranded as MU claimed the 6-4 victory.

- Senior Patrick Routsis (Midlothian, Va./St. Christopher's) recorded the final out in the third and worked through the sixth, going 3.1 scoreless innings with three hits, one walk and six strikeouts.
