Jack Smith combined for nine goals and 15 points as RMC men's lacrosse continued their strong start to the season, defeating Methodist 21-1 on a rainy Wednesday night.

How it Happened:
- Austin Payne (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) got the scoring started for RMC just 1:30 into the game. Methodist got on the board seven minutes later but RMC closed the first frame with three goals, one by Ryan Pritchard (Crofton, Md./DeMatha) and two by Jack Smith (Stevensville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) as RMC led 4-1 after 15 minutes.
- The Yellow Jackets' offense rolled into the second as the RMC scored six goals in a span of three minutes to open a 10-1 lead midway through the second. The scoring didn't stop there as Bubba Bowen (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and Austin Payne went back to back in 13 seconds to expand the lead to 12-1. Matthew Sutty (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum) completed his first half hat trick with the final goal of the half to make it 13-1 at the break.
- Jack Smith notched his hat trick to begin the second and then Payne scored another just a minute later to push the score to 15-1. Payne tacked on another goal for his sixth of the game as RMC took a 16-1 lead into the final quarter.
- Connor Cadigan (Phoenix, Md./Boys Latin) notched two straight goals to open the fourth as he pushed the lead even further. Cooper Harding (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephens & St. Agnes), Stuart Widener (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle), and Matt Williams (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal) all scored their first goals of the season to close out the fourth as RMC took a 21-1 win for their largest margin of victory on the year.

- Austin Payne finished with a season-high six goals while also dishing out an assist. He also had two ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Jack Smith had a team-high eight points. He had a hat trick with three goals and totaled five assists as well.
- Matthew Sutty was the third RMC player with a hat trick in the game. He also had an assist and four ground balls.
- 10 different Yellow Jackets scored a goal in the game. Five players had multiple goals.
- Ryan Pritchard had three points, scoring a goal and dishing two assists.
- Cooper Hauser (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) and JD Spotts (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) both had a team-high five ground balls.
