How it Happened
- Randolph-Macon has jumped out to early leads on its opponents all season. This would not change today, as Lora Bertram (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) took a precise pass from Ally Spangler (Daleville, Va./Lord Botetourt) in the 14th minute. Bertram buried the goal past the goalkeeper to put the Yellow Jackets up 1-0.
- The Maroons owned the possession for the remainder of the first half. Long was tested and stood up perfectly, making six crucial saves to keep the Lemon and Black up 1-0 at the half.
- The Yellow Jackets started the second half very offensive minded, sending two shots at goal that was gathered by the Roanoke goalkeeper. The defensive back line of Randolph-Macon would be tested for the majority of the second half. The Maroons were looking to stay in the game and create a goal to get the game back to tied.
- Long was the star of the game for Randolph-Macon, saving four more quality shots by Roanoke to keep the lead for the Lemon and Black. The senior totaled 11 saves to propel the Lemon and Black to a much needed 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.
