How it Happened
  • Roanoke had the first shot of the game four minutes into the first stanza and in double the time, got a goal on the board after a scrum in front of the cage to make the score 1-0. RMC's attack couldn't get anything going throughout the first 15 minutes as the Maroons took a 1-0 lead into the second quarter.
  • The offense for the Yellow Jackets finally found its footing in the second quarter, being awarded two penalty corners in the first nine minutes that resulted in four shots. Only one of those four were on cage, but the score remained at 1-0 in the Maroons' favor. RMC got one more corner with just over two minutes until half, but couldn't push one across.
  • Nearly the entire third quarter was played in the midfield as neither team could generate much offensive pressure. The Yellow Jackets put a shot on goal 10 minutes into the quarter but that was the only chance either side had for the length of the 15 minutes.
  • Roanoke dominated the beginning of the fourth quarter, getting two corners and putting three shots on goal in the first four minutes of the quarter. Over the next four minutes, RMC had a strong chance at goal, being awarded a penalty corner and putting two shots on goal, the last of which was saved by a Roanoke defensive player. The Maroons' defense held strong to take the win, 1-0 over RMC.
