rd ranked Randolph-Macon breezed past Eastern Mennonite 87-45 to open 2024.

How it Happened
- For the second straight game, Vincent Payne (Frederick, Md./St. Maria Goretti) opened the scoring with a three pointer. The teams traded baskets for the first 5:34 of the game until RMC ignited an 8-0 run to take a 20-12 lead in the first half. After the Royals cut it to two, a 22-5 run ended the frame, giving the Yellow Jackets a 42-23 lead at the halftime break. Malcolm Hodges (Richmond, Va./Monacan) had a career-high 10 points in the first half, including each of RMC's last six points of the half.
- The Lemon and Black started the second half on a 13-3 run as the lead neared 30. Keishawn Pulley Jr. hit a pair of threes and a layup to help the Yellow Jackets build a 73-33 lead with 8:37 to go. As Joe Bachman (Wilmington, N.C./Greensboro Day) made a layup with 5:25 left, RMC took a 41 point lead which never got within 40 for the remainder of the game.
Inside the Numbers
- Keishawn Pulley Jr. led all scorers with 19 points on 7-12 shooting and made three triples. He also had six assists without a turnover.
- Malcolm Hodges had a career-high 14 points and seven made shots, shooting 7-9 from the field with five rebounds and a pair of steals.
- Margad Choijilsuren (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) totaled 10 points with eight boards and four assists.
- RMC had a season-high 24 assists, their most since Feb. 2, 2023 against Shenandoah when they dished out 31 assists.
- The Yellow Jackets outrebounded the Royals 38-21 to mark the fifth straight game outrebounding their opponent.
- EMU shot just 34.7% from the field. RMC has held opponents under 40% from the field in nine of 13 games this year.
- Randolph-Macon has now won seven of their last eight games by 19+ points.
