ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon women's soccer held tough with Washington and Lee that was receiving votes for the Top-25 teams in the nation. The Generals Mady Laudisi netted a goal mid-way in the first half, as that would be all W&L would need to escape with a 1-0 win.

How it Happened
- The first 30 minutes saw both teams create scoring opportunities, but both defenses held tough in the box. The Yellow Jackets had a great opportunity to take the lead in the 16th minute, as Alexa Stohr (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) had an open shot, but Sydney Smith made the save for the Generals.
- Washington and Lee grabbed the lead in the 31st minute on a corner kick. The ball fell to Sarah Zimmerman as she passed it to Laudisi who finished it in the right corner of the goal.
- The Lemon and Black came out with aggression in the second half as two chances to tie up the game by Sammie Hoefs (New Market, Md.) and Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./ James M. Bennett) that was stopped by Smith early in the second half.
- The Generals created two great scoring opportunities themselves soon after by Cameron Grainger and Zimmerman that hit the crossbar to preserve the one goal deficit for Randolph-Macon.
- Randolph-Macon had a final push at the end of the second half with two corners that fell to Yellow Jacket players, but the Generals defensive line was able to clean up the mess to take home the 1-0 win.
Inside the Numbers
- Washington and Lee outshot the Yellow Jackets 23-to-17. The Generals put 11 on frame to RMC's seven.
- The Generals had seven corner opportunities to Randolph-Macon's three.
- Zoe Long (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) made 10 saves in goal for the Lemon and Black.
